SAN PIETRO IN LAMOSA

The monastery of San Pietro in Lamosa is located in Provaglio d'Iseo near the Torbiere del Sebino, which is named after San Pietro "in Lamosa". From 1083 to 1535, the church, donated to the Cluniac monks of the abbey of Cluny, was transformed into a monastery that carried out important religious, economic, socio-welfare and cultural functions. From 1535 to 1783, the monastery was acquired by the regular canons of San Salvatore di Brescia, who built the chapel in front of the entrance. The monastery owes importance to a cycle of frescoes on the Life of Jesus by an unknown 16th century artist. The baroque oratory in front of the entrance to the monastery is also interesting.
