Brantôme

Brantôme is a former commune in the Dordogne department in southwestern France. On 1 January 2016, it was merged into the new commune Brantôme-en-Périgord. It is the seat of the canton of Brantôme. Via Lemovicensis, an old pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, runs through Brantôme.



Saint Jean de Côle

St Jean de Cole has been officially classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France (les plus beaux villages de France). A charming village with ochre coloured houses, including many half-timbered houses, and lovely tiled roofs. Indeed the roofs once won the ‘finest roofs in France’ competition.



Château de Puyguilhem

A lawyer close to Louise of Savoy, the sister of Frances I of France, Pierre Mondot of Marthonie became the first president of the Paris Parliament, in 1515. He transformed the stronghold of Puyguilhem, acquired around 1510, into a Renaissance residence decorated with fashionably at the time.
